Action potential generated in the motor neuron causes release of neurotransmitter, acetylcholine from the synaptic vesicles. Binding of acetylcholine with its receptors in the muscle membrane initiate action potential in the muscle and caused release of calcium ion initiating a list of events, causing muscular contraction.
