Lec 17- George Beylerian: material libraries

Lec 17- George Beylerian: material libraries. On October 20, 2010, George Beylerian, founder of Material ConneXion, New York, spoke about his history with the company and with material libraries. http://www.materialconnexion.com/ _____________________________________________ Material use and understanding has become more directly linked to architectural practice and to architectural education. Digital fabrication, integrated practice, and cutting edge designs employ material investigations, large scale mock-ups and prototypes of building sections or assemblies. The tactile and esthetic qualities of materials have always been of comparable measure to design, construction and architectural experience; but emergent materials and their associated technologies are rapidly altering the way designers work and the way end-users engage buildings. This series seeked to address the ever-expanding world of materials and their incorporation into our built environment.
