Cholesterol is a soft waxy substance found in blood and cells. We get cholesterol from the food we eat. Liver also produces cholesterol. There are two types of cholesterol, the LDL cholesterol and the HDL cholesterol. LDL cholesterol tends to deposit in the blood vessels causing atherosclerosis, the major cause of heart disease and stroke. HDL cholesterol helps to remove cholesterol from the body by carrying them to the liver. Edited by Ashraf .
