Gap junctions

A gap junction or nexus is a specialized intercellular connection between a multitude of animal cell-types. It directly connects the cytoplasm of two cells. In contrast to tight and adherent junctions, gap junctions do not seal membranes together, nor do they restrict the passage of material between the cells. Edited by Ashraf
