High density lipoprotein or HDL transports cholesterol from the peripheral tissue to the liver where the cholesterol is used and excreted as bile. HDL is produced by cells in the liver and to some extend by other cells in the gut. This video explains the function and physiology of HDL. Edited by Ashraf
