The F16 Afterburner Turbine
An afterburner turbine, injects fuel directly into the exhaust stream and uses the oxygen remaining from the exhaust stream too heat and expand the gases further. This is now in use in the F16 jet as it increases the thrust of the engine by up to 50 per cent.
