Computational chemistry methods have been introduced that allow analysis of reaction mechanisms and prediction of the reactivity in synthetic chemistry. Therefore, computational chemistry is used to predict the reactivates of a wide variety of phenolic compounds (1), (2). QM methods have been successfully applied to the derivation of substituent effects of certain chemical groups in substituted phenols (3).
