How hormones make cell to do what it's supposed to do?

Steroid hormones like androgen, estrogen, etc. are synthesized from cholesterol. Hormone enters the cell, binds to specific place, which than triggers transcription of gene regions, resulting mRNA, later proteins, which do specific task.
