The five steps in the contact process are, production of sulphur dioxide from sulphur, purification of sulphur dioxide, catalytic oxidation of sulphur dioxide to sulphur trioxide, conversion of sulfur trioxide to oleum, and dilution of oleum to sulhpuric acid.
